A Foodie’s Guide to Surfers Paradise



Think of Surfers Paradise and images of soaring skyscrapers, wild schoolie celebrations and questionable nightlife hangouts along Cavil Avenue likely spring to mind. While many locals tend to avoid Surfers Paradise, thanks to a bevy of recent openings, taking the place of former shady spots, this part of the coast is rapidly changing and becoming no longer a place to be ignored, but rather a worthwhile stop on any discerning foodie’s trail of the coast.

HYDE PARADISO

The place to see and be seen, by the sea; situated in Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise, Hyde Paradiso is a relatively recent addition to the Gold Coast’s ever-evolving foodie scene, opening a little over a year ago. With locations scattered around the U.S. - Los Angeles, Vegas, Miami - Hyde Paradiso in Surfers Paradise marks the brand’s first-ever location in Australia (and outside the U.S.) and resembles a lively oceanfront lounge, inspired by the L.A. lifestyle - expect incredible beach views, over-sized cocktails, signature sgroppinos, mouthwatering Mediterranean food and DJ soirees on weekends.

WHAT WAS ORDERED:

HUMMUS with paprika, olive oil and served with fresh Turkish pita.

SPANAKOPITA Spinach, feta, spices, lemon.

SQUID Sumac, salt and pepper squid with lemon aioli.


THE ISLAND rooftop

Set in the beating heart of Surfers Paradise, only a few blocks from Surfers Paradise Beach, and a part of the recently renovated boutique hotel The Island, The Island Rooftop is an ideal spot for casual drinks and eats with a group of friends. Considered to be the Gold Coast’s largest open-air rooftop bar, it is on Thursdays, Fridays, and the weekend in which The Island Rooftop really becomes the place to be, as this is when a mix of both local and touring artists play, and the rooftop truly comes alive.

SURFERS PAVILION

The newest waterfront venue to open in Surfers Paradise, Surfers Pavilion offers uninterrupted river views, share-style eats and refreshing cocktails, including a dedicated frosé bar with three flavours to choose from. On the menu you can expect a wide selection of creative seafood inspired favourites. For the oyster lovers, Surfers Pavilion also has a dedicated oyster bar where both chilled and grilled options are freshly shucked right in front of you.

Overlooking Surfers Paradise’s ever evolving skyline, Edgewater Dining and Lounge Bar is situated right on the water in the heart of bustling Capri on Via Roma on the Isle of Capri. Inspired by modern Australian cuisine, with a twist of traditional Italian style cooking, Edgewater Dining offers a menu which incorporates seasonal changes to ensure only the most creative and highest quality dishes are served.

PRAWN & BUG MEAT RISOTTO with pink champagne sauce infused with chilli and herbs, topped with half a bug.

QUINOA & ROAST CAULIFLOWER SALAD with baby beets, toasted pumpkin seeds, asparagus spears, rocket, lemon, mustard vinaigrette. 

SUNNY QUEENSLAND Mango, lychee, orange, pineapple and passionfruit. 


MS MARGOT’S BAR & EATS

Located inside Hilton Surfers Paradise’s newly refurbished lobby, you’ll find Ms Margot’s Bar & Eats, where you can enjoy a gourmet breakfast in the morning and a tempting selection of share-style eats and cocktails in the afternoon - the tempura bug roll is a standout!
